Casio Computer Co Ltd announced Wednesday that it has joined RE100, an international initiative that promotes the use of 100% renewable electricity in business activities.

n

RE100 is an initiative led by the Climate Group, a global environmental NGO. It consists of companies that are committed to using 100% renewable electricity in their business operations.

n

Casio said it is determined to help build a decarbonized society and has set a target of reducing its greenhouse gas emissions by 38% by fiscal 2031, compared to fiscal 2019, and to net zero by fiscal 2051. The 2030 greenhouse gas reduction targets set by Casio have been validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), providing assurance that the company’s targets are aligned with climate science.

n

Accompanying its joining of RE100, Casio will roll out the renewable energy initiatives already underway at some of its sites in and outside Japan to the entire Casio Group worldwide. Casio plans to procure renewable electricity, in line with the regional characteristics of its business sites around the world, and will also install more renewable power generation facilities.

n

Going forward, Casio will continue to work proactively on these and other key efforts to help build a decarbonized society.
