Dentsu, 2 companies to set up online shopping mall

The Digital Business Consortium, an association of 46 major Japanese newspaper publishers, and major adverting agency Dentsu Inc said Thursday they will set up a joint venture to operate a Web site to sell regional products.

The two sides have cooperated in operating the Web site since it was experimentally launched in April 2007. The new firm, 47CLUB Inc, expects to establish its foothold in the growing online shopping business and aims to more than double the number of stores on the website to at least 1,000 by the end of this year.
