DoCoMo unveils new BlackBerry Bold model


NTT DoCoMo Inc said Monday it will launch a new, high-end BlackBerry model in Japan in the January-March quarter. The price of the BlackBerry Bold smartphone has not been set yet.


The new product will be mainly targeted at corporate clients. The company’s president, Ryuji Yamada, said that smartphones are a important segment, expressing hopes that their share will expand from some 2% of the nation’s handset market at present.


NTT DoCoMo may position the BlackBerry Bold as a competitor to Apple Inc’s iPhone 3G sold in Japan by Softbank Corp, analysts said.
