Fujitsu has won a contract from Daito Gyorui Co, a major seafood wholesaler at the Tsukiji Fish Market in Tokyo, which is outsourcing their mission-critical IT functions for order processing, sales administration, and inventory management to ensure business continuity even in the event of natural disasters and public infrastructure shutdowns. Fujitsu recently began providing the outsourcing services from a data center in Japan.

Since its establishment in 1947 as a seafood wholesaler, Daito Gyorui has operated in a number of important fish markets in Tokyo, including Tsukiji, Senju, Ota, Narita, and Funabashi. The company has served as the intermediary between producers and consumers, earning a strong reputation for its fresh and frozen fish, and processed food products. Known for fast delivery of large volumes of marine products, the company has played a significant public role in supporting Japan’s culinary culture.
n
Recently, Daito Gyorui has also been facing a changing business landscape, with an increase in both international trade and client diversity, necessitating the need for a more robust IT system.
n
To respond to these changes and develop a robust business IT infrastructure, Daito Gyorui signed an outsourcing contract with Fujitsu, to convert their current in-house IT system in Tsukiji to Fujitsu’s data center based in Tatebayashi.
