ntttttttttttt

Hitachi Ltd has developed technology to estimate the volume of human visceral fat and render tomographic images of the abdomen using weight and abdominal girth data only.

n

The technology allows visual simulation of increases or decreases in organ fat that result from changes in weight on the computer screen, according to the major Japanese electric machinery maker.

n

Hitachi hopes the use of the technology will help boost the awareness of the need for improved lifestyles, including dieting, among people suffering from metabolic syndrome in order for them to overcome the problem.

n

Hitachi plans to develop a device incorporating the technology within two years for sale to hospitals and other medical organizations.

n

The organ fat simulation technology was developed by analyzing the correlation between the volume of organ fat and weight and abdominal girth using data collected from 75,000 people, according to Hitachi.

n

Metabolic syndrome is a form of obesity characterized by an excessive accumulation of visceral fat, high blood sugar levels and high blood pressure. Sufferers are said to be at high risk of cerebral stroke and heart disease.
