In brief: Go-Jek teams up with regional retail group on payments, deliveries

Japanese retail group Aeon will partner with Indonesian ride-hailing startup Go-Jek on digital payment and home delivery to speed the store operator’s overseas expansion, company sources said.

Under the alliance, Aeon will accept payments using Go-Jek’s Go-Pay digital money at its two malls in Jakarta [and] will offer home deliveries using Go-Jek drivers.

Go-Jek drivers will be posted at Aeon malls in order to collect and deliver items that customers have purchased online.

Following the rollout this month, Aeon and Go-Jek plan to extend the joint service to three of the retail group’s new outlets next year.

Aeon runs 1,300 shopping centers, general merchandise stores, and convenience stores across Southeast Asia, and plans to expand its collaboration with Go-Jek outside of Indonesia.

Go-Jek established its first overseas ride-hailing and delivery services this year, launching apps in Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.
