When learning a language, the process of finding words in reading material or in conversations is a critical part of gaining fluency. The latest update to Japanese Flash makes this process of word discovery easier for iPhone users.

n

Already popular for studying Japanese vocabulary on the iPhone, Japanese Flash now adds the ability to automatically display words sent from other apps. Rikai Browser, the leading Japanese-English bilingual browser will be the first app to integrate this feature, with a planned update in June.

n

“Soon Japanese learners will be able to look up a word on a web page in Rikai Browser, and with one tap launch Japanese Flash. They can then star the word for later and return to reading the web page in Rikai Browser,” said Ross Sharrott, a director at Long Weekend, the publisher of Japanese Flash and Rikai Browser.

n

The new release also includes backup & restore of user’s study sets to the cloud. This feature lets users transfer vocab sets between multiple devices, such as an iPhone and iPad. Online backup is included free for all users with the upgrade.

n

“This is a first step toward sharing your Japanese learning activities with other users. Japanese Flash already lets you tweet words. In future versions we plan to allow users to share self created study sets too,” added Sharrott.

n

Japanese Flash comes loaded with over 180 study sets across all skill levels, letting students focus on vocabulary matched to their level. Users can also build study sets using the 150,000 word built-in Japanese-English dictionary.

n

Japanese Flash is available on the App Store for $7.99 or 900 yen.
