Japan Communications Inc has released the VISITOR SIM for foreign travelers to Japan.

This product will help visitors to Japan have a simple and inexpensive way to try out and experience the most technically advanced data network in the world. The VISITOR SIM is an English language product that can be purchased through the JCI English website (http://www.bmobile.ne.jp/english/) where the customer will be guided in English in the purchase process. The customers of the VISITOR SIM will have a special English call-in number which will be in operation 6 days a week. This special feature of the VISITOR SIM enables full English support of customers staffed by native English speakers from JCI in Japan as well as from its employees in the United States.

The VISITOR SIM is available in two product families each of which provide a standard size SIM as well as a Micro SIM.

Second, 1-GB Prepaid is designed specifically for smartphone applications which may require broad bandwidth or speed to enable the user to access applications such as YouTube or Skype from time to time. This SIM will be effective for 14 days but the service will be limited to the usage up to 1 Giga Byte of data communications.
