KDDI au unveils mobile handsets for spring

Mobile carrier KDDI au on Thursday unveiled 12 new mobile handsets for the spring season. The new handsets are made by Sony Ericsson, Hitachi, Toshiba, Casio, Sharp, Panasonic, Kyocera for consumers and HCT for corporate users.

Hitachi’s H001 model features the world’s first 3.1-inch full-wide 3D monitor through which movies and images are shown in 3D format. Sharp’s CA001 model is equipped with high-resolution 8-mega-pixel CCD camera for still images and movies.

The company said the new line-up targets those who wish to use one handset for a long term as well as those who prefer fashionable handsets. The new handsets will be available from Jan 31 nationwide.

Actress Yukie Nakama, 29, appeared at the press conference, and announced she will appear in the company’s new TV commercials, featuring the theme of traditional Japanese and European fairytales “Kaguyahime” and “Little Red Riding-Hood.” She said, “Wearing those old costumes was something like cosplay which I enjoyed.”
