KDDI and Okinawa Cellular will successively release items in their new lineup this month, including six new smartphones in the au smartphone IS series, three new au mobile phones, one new tablet, and one new data communications terminal.

Four out of the six phones in the new IS series wave are WiMAX-enabled high speed communications phones with tethering ability. This product wave includes a lavish assortment of user-friendly models with dual core CPUs and Japanese spec models that are water-proof and compatible with the Osaifu Keitai service and infrared communications. In addition to allowing users to easily access and enjoy web content and movies, these phones provide extremely user-friendly interfaces.

The au mobile phones strike a slim and stylish design while simultaneously providing water proof and dust proof functionalities. Models will be available equipped with advanced-function cameras including high speed start-up and high speed continuous shooting features and models for business customers come with an assortment of security functions that assist in the case of phone loss or theft.

Mobile Wi-Fi routers that can use both 3G and WiMAX as well as business tablets will also be available. The business tablets have a water proof, dust proof, and shock resistant design, making them perfect for outdoor work as well.

All models in the new IS series wave have e-mail ability (ezweb.ne.jp) as well as being compatible with emergency earthquake reports and disaster message boards. And, KDDI also supplies a security pack called the “Anshin Security Pack” that comprehensively supports smartphone security and safety.

Also, KDDI is making it even easier to freely select and enjoy communications options with services like the automatic photograph backup function for au smartphones called au one Photo Air powered by Eye-Fi and the integrated communications service called au one Friends Note.

To introduce a wider range of users to the excitement of high speed WiMAX communications, KDDI is instituting a special campaign for WiMAX equipped smartphones. The standard monthly usage fee of 525 yen (tax included) for “+WiMAX” will be absolutely free for usage from Oct 1 until January 2012.
