KVH Japan signs for SMX cloud email security service

Cloud-based email security provider SMX Limited has signed a licensing and support agreement with KVH, one of Japan’s leading information delivery platforms providing IT and communication solutions.

The agreement will see KVH replace their existing cloud-based email security service with the SMX service to meet KVH’s requirement for carrier-grade inbound and outbound email filtering, locally-hosted in its own data centers and made available to KVH customers under its own brand.

Joseph Duhamel, Executive Vice President of Systems and Technology for KVH, says KVH will use the SMX platform to offer their own-branded inbound and outbound email filtering service – MailScan MX – to customers throughout Japan.

“We selected SMX after a worldwide search for a number of reasons. Most important is the ability of SMX to deliver a carrier-grade service which we can run on our own servers in our own data centers, with all mail filtered locally. Local email filtering is an important requirement for many Japanese companies and Government departments,” Duhamel says.

“We were also impressed with the ease with which SMX handles customer provisioning and billing and the willingness of SMX to stand behind the very high levels of accuracy in email filtering which our customers expect and demand.”

SMX CEO Jesse Ball says the sale to KVH is highly strategic for SMX as it rapidly expands its customer base throughout the Asia Pacific region.
