Well known for being one of the earliest investors in Uber, Jason Calacanis is also a technology entrepreneur, angel investor, and the host of the popular podcast This Week in Startups and Angel. Till date, Jason has invested in over 150 early-stage startups, including six unicorns. Hear from the man himself as he shares how he transformed US$100K into US$100 million.

The session “Bukalapak: How We Built a Unicorn Startup in Indonesia (EN)” will take place on Day 1 at 4.15pm.

Launched in 2010, Bukalapak is now one of the largest online marketplace for micro sellers in Indonesia. Earlier this year, the C2C ecommerce platform which connects SMEs and merchants to buyers officially became Indonesia’s fourth unicorn startup. As of 2017, the site saw five million unique daily users and handled US$1 billion in gross merchandise volume.

A tech entrepreneur and investor, Alexis Ohanian plans to double down on investment opportunities in emerging technologies like blockchain. Most acclaimed for co-founding the madly popular social news site Reddit, Alexis has a belief that softwares will dominate Venture Capital.

He sits on Reddit’s board after stepping down from daily duties at the internet company, and is focusing his attention on Initialized Capital, which has invested in businesses such as Coinbase and Instacart. During his fireside chat at Tech in Asia Singapore 2017, Alexis shared that one of the keys to investing is to look for the right indicators. Today, Initialized Capital has over US$250 million under their management and more than US$20 billion worth of portfolio.

Previously, Jeff was a Portfolio Manager at Cabezon Investment Group and before that in research and trading at Clarium Capital Management, finding investment opportunities in world markets.
