McAfee partners with Toshiba for tablet security

McAfee Co Ltd, the Japanese subsidiary of McAfee and Toshiba Corp will offer a 30-day limited trial version of McAfee WaveSecure pre-installed on the Toshiba REGZA Tablet AT300/24C. The WaveSecure mobile security service is designed to help consumers protect their mobile smartphone or tablet and personal data in the event of loss or theft. It will be available to Toshiba tablet users starting the end of July in Japan.

McAfee WaveSecure comes with an easy-to-use web-based management console that allows users to quickly run the necessary security tasks for properly managing and protecting their tablet. In the event their tablet is lost, McAfee WaveSecure is equipped with alarm and remote location tracking functions that enable users to protect their privacy. This security solution also comes with remote lock and wipe (data deletion) functions to prevent data from being misused. In addition, the remote backup and restore functions make it easy to automatically back up all the data stored on the tablet. With unlimited backup capacity and the ability to restore data whenever needed, users are freed from worrying about suddenly losing data while using their tablet while preserving their privacy.

Toshiba’s REGZA Tablet AT300/24C is a slate-type tablet PC that delivers the same high level of image resolution, sound quality, and user-friendliness synonymous with Toshiba’s REGZA LCD TVs and dynabook notebook PCs. REGZA Tablet AT300/24C incorporates the latest Android 3.1 platform and NVIDIA Tegra 2 processor, which boasts superior graphics processing performance, as well as a 10.1 inch high-definition LED LCD display with a wide view angle.
