NEC, Gutermann to develop intelligent water management for cities

NEC Corp and Gutermann AG, a Switzerland-based global leader in advanced leak detection technologies, have signed an agreement to jointly promote intelligent water loss management solutions and products.

The agreement aims to advance joint business development of solutions for leak detection in fixed water networks and to support the creation of innovative business models that can be widely applied throughout markets all over the world.

“The demand for water management is increasing as the world’s population is estimated to reach 9 billion by 2050, while the ratio of urbanization is expected to grow to 70%,” said Tomonori Nishimura, head of Social Infrastructure Business, NEC Corporation. “Continuous monitoring of water leaks in order to save valuable drinking water is a key aspect for effective use of aquatic resources in urban areas.”
