Panasonic, Yahoo Japan collaborate on TV auction service

Panasonic Corp and Yahoo Japan Corp have jointly developed what is said to be the industry’s first flat-panel television compatible with Yahoo Japan’s auction service, Yahoo! Auctions.

Launched in 1999, Yahoo! Auctions has become the most extensive online auction service in Japan. Now, Panasonic and Yahoo Japan teamed up to develop a television-based auction service with user-friendly screen design and operations, and simple payment systems. The product is expected to be commercially released next spring.
