The global relationship builder of the startup and tech world, Pioneers.io, will partner with Japan’s leading business media company, Nikkei, to bring the Pioneers Festival experience to Asia, jointly organizing Pioneers Asia 2016.

n

The event, which will take place on March 23, 2016 at Happo-en, Shirokanedai in Tokyo, aims to build a bridge between the Asian and European startup world, connecting 999 participants from both sides.

n

As in Europe, where the annual Pioneers Festival is known as “a hotspot where the future starts” (WIRED, 2015), the event in Tokyo will offer a unique setting for a strictly limited community of entrepreneurs, executives, investors, and international media to experience how startups and tech from Asia will impact our world, and to build relationships that support Asia’s startup ecosystem.

n

The event will be structured around ecosystems which illustrate markets that will see disruption by tech startups: Life Sciences, Agriculture and Food, Financial Services, Mobility & Transportation, Business & Productivity, Materials & Manufacturing, Lifestyle & Entertainment, Energy, and Robotics. “This will further support participants to easily connect within an ecosystem and focus on industry or interest specific event tracks”, explains Andreas Tschas, CEO of Pioneers.io.

n

Pioneers.io was founded in Vienna, Austria back in 2009 by Tschas and Juergen Furian to support entrepreneurship and technology which could shape the future. Beginning with only 40 participants in 2009 and now yearly attracting a juried community of 2,500 pioneers, Pioneers Festival has featured the world premiere of a flying car Aeromobil, presented Elon Musk’s Hyperloop, the world’s fastest electric car Rimac, and showcased how people with mobility problems can walk again (Ekso Bionics) and how an 18-year old helped people who lost an arm by 3D printing a robotic arm for less than USD 400 (Unlimited Tomorrow).

n

Pioneers has also featured speakers such as Bitcoin legend Roger Ver, Xavier de le Rue of Hexo+, Bobak Ferdowsi, flight director of the Mars Rover Mission at NASA, super investor Gil Penchina, and startups like intelligent sportswear manufacturer Athos, artificial intelligence company anki, and Lightsail energy.
