Willcom recalls 8,300 PHS handsets

Personal handy phone system service provider Willcom Inc said Friday it will recall a total of 8,300 PHS handsets as they may overheat while receiving calls. Subject to the recall are the X PLATE WX130S model manufactured by Seiko Instruments Inc, which were launched in February.

According to the company, the handsets may overheat if the ring tone continues for about a minute, apparently due to insulation failure of speakers. But there is no danger of the terminals emitting smoke or catching fire, it said.
