Wordvice Editing Service has released its free online grammar checker and English writing assistant, the Wordvice AI Proofreader (https://wordvice.ai). Similar in functionality to automated proofreading apps like Grammarly, the AI Proofreader was specifically created with academic authors in mind. It was built based on natural language processing (NLP) technology, making it adept at finding and fixing errors in documents with technical vocabulary

The AI Proofreader identifies errors in grammar, spelling, capitalization, and punctuation; but it also corrects clarity, word choice, and other style issues found in research texts and in everyday writing. Errors are marked with different colored text, making it easier to view the specific issues identified. Clicking on the error allows users to either accept or reject the suggested change. This makes the tool an ideal solution for research authors preparing their journal manuscripts for publication or students writing admissions essays for college or university.

The app’s proofreading capability was refined by varying the target input text and continuously training new source text using NLP procedures. When the editing performance of Wordvice AI, two other major proofreading tools, and a professional editor was compared using words, phrases, and paragraphs of text, the Wordvice AI Proofreader showed the highest error identification accuracy among the three apps. It also performed nearly as well as the expert human editor, which is an impressive result for a text-editing app at this stage of development.
