ZOLL Medical sets up Japan subsidiary

Asahi Kasei’s wholly owned U.S. subsidiary ZOLL Medical Corp (ZOLL) has established Asahi Kasei ZOLL Medical Corp – its Japanese subsidiary. Asahi Kasei ZOLL Medical, which will commence operations on Nov 5, will advance the expansion and development of ZOLL’s business in Japan.

ZOLL, a leading U.S. manufacturer of critical care devices and systems, was acquired by Asahi Kasei in line with its target to grow in the critical care segment. As a member company of the Asahi Kasei Group, ZOLL is accelerating the expansion of operations beyond the US and Europe, with a focus on Japan and other major Asian markets.

To further expand its Japanese business, ZOLL is working to obtain regulatory approval as quickly as possible for products currently sold in the U.S. and Europe, while reinforcing its sales infrastructure in the country.

In close collaboration with Admis, Asahi Kasei ZOLL Medical will work to increase sales of the ZOLL AED Plus while advancing preparations for the sale of other approved products such as Thermogard temperature management systems and ZOLL AED Pro automated external defibrillators for use by professional rescuers.

Application has been filed for Japanese regulatory approval of X Series monitor defibrillators and the LifeVest wearable defibrillator.
